Update on university Mobocracies

Here’s a rundown on the latest nonsense infesting post-modern, leftist, American universities. The anarchists and Marxist kids and profs at these re-education centers are hell-bent on destroying the First Amendment protections of free speech and expression, and they are succeeding on their commune-campuses.

Michelle Malkin has an update from the recent riot at Columbia University entitled The mob wins at Columbia University. Michelle quotes a New York Post article reminding us that the punks who assaulted Minutemen Project co-founder Jim Gilchrist as he attempted to speak have thus far gone unpunished.

Forty-seven days: That’s how long it’s been since Columbia University hosted a breathtakingly brazen attack on free speech and academic freedom.

Since then, not a word of apology has been offered to those whose rights were trampled – nor an ounce of punishment meted out to the offenders.

The only thing, in fact, that Columbia’s administrators have done is to announce an “investigation” – which, of course, they would do.

Beyond that, Columbia’s silent.

* No comment on when the investigation might wrap up.

* No comment on how many students are under investigation.

* No comment on how many face possible expulsion.

Maybe Columbia’s hoping the whole matter will simply go away.

Or perhaps the administration is just too scared to confront its brownshirts.

Regardless, what transpired that night is clear: Just as Jim Gilchrist, founder of the anti-illegal-immigration Minuteman Project, opened his remarks at a campus event sponsored by the college’s Republican Club, thugs bum-rushed the stage and physically attacked the speaker.

Their assault was premeditated. Gilchrist was barely able to utter a word before being hustled away by security.

But wait, there’s more! Michelle also has a post, Spineless at Brown University, on how Brown University has canceled a speech by anti-jihad hero Nonie Darwish because a bunch of thin-skinned Muslim students complained that she is “too controversial.” Boo-freaking-Hoo. The NYPost reports:

Muslims are often accused of not speaking out sufficiently against terrorism. Nonie Darwish knows one reason why: Their fellow Muslims won’t let them.

Darwish, who comes from Egypt and was born and raised a Muslim, was set to tell students at Brown University about the twisted hatred and radicalism she grew to despise in her own culture. A campus Jewish group, Hillel, had contacted her to speak there Thursday.

But the event was just called off.

Muslim students had complained that Darwish was “too controversial.” They insisted she be denied a platform at Brown, and after contentious debate Hillel agreed.

Weird: No one had said boo about such Brown events as a patently anti-Israel “Palestinian Solidarity Week.” But Hillel said her “offensive” statements about Islam “alarmed” the Muslim Student Association, and Hillel didn’t want to upset its “beautiful relationship” with the Muslim community.

Plus, Brown’s women’s center backed out of co-sponsoring the event, even though it shares Darwish’s concerns about the treatment of women. Reportedly, part of the problem was that Darwish had no plans to condemn Israel for shooting Arab women used by terrorists as human shields, or for insufficiently protecting Israeli Arab wives from their husbands.

In plugging their ears to Darwish, Brown’s Muslim students proved her very point: Muslims who attempt constructive self-criticism are quickly and soundly squelched – by other Muslims.

In America, A brave Muslim who renounced jihad is censored by “offended” Muslims on a university campus. Imagine that.

But that’s not all! For the Thanksgiving Holidays, we are running a special on stories about Campus Communism and the anti-free speech movement sweeping US universities like a plague of little Che-locusts.

Did you see this story on Mike Adams’ recent attempt to speak at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst? No diversity and tolerance allowed here!

The students who picked me up to take me to Amherst told stories of radical groups bent on destroying America – starting with an assault on the First Amendment at Planet U-MASS.

The groups, I was told, would follow the Republicans to every conservative event and disrupt their First Amendment activity. They would stand in front of tables – where the Republicans were doing nothing more than collecting donations for disabled veterans – and shout at them. They would call them “war mongers” and “racists” and chant in unison.

Immediately, I saw droves of gay students marching by wearing dresses. They were arriving to protest my appearance. Others wore black masks and marched in unison – much like the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany. Still others wore the communist Red Star upon an outer garment.

Adams uses a dream narrative in describing his experience to attempt to speak at U-Mass. I’d call it a nightmare.

In my dream, a Muslim student seated in the rear of the auditorium shouted “you’re an asshole” and left the speech without giving a reason for his anger. At another point in the dream, the subject of homosexuality was broached. A student shouted “Jesus was a bisexual, read the Gnostic Gospels!” I still thought that it was merely a dream.

Before I knew it, an avowed communist had taken over the microphone. He never asked a question. He just shouted and pumped his fists saying something about a communist revolution. He mentioned “war and conquest for oil” in between hurling accusations of racism.

When a physical altercation broke out, I slipped out the back door between two body guards. After the microphone was reclaimed, they were about to resume the Q&A. But, in my dream, the speech was over.

Kids dressed as Nazis and Communists in affiliation with disaffected Muslims on campus block Professor Adams from speaking at an event sponsored by the College Republicans. Such is the status of the American campus.

Lastly, here’s a story from Neal Boortz on an incident at Marquette University:

Remember Dave Barry? Retired now. Good for him. A great humorist, though apparently they don’t think so at Marquette University.

It seems that many university graduate students like to hang little sayings, news clippings, pictures and whatnot outside their office doors. A Marquette grad student did just that, and along comes James South, the Chairman of the Philosophy Department, who orders the offending item removed.

So … what was the item, and why was it so offensive? It was a quote from a Dave Barry column. To (as they say in the legal profession0 [sic] wit:

“As Americans, we must always remember that we all have a common enemy, an enemy that is dangerous, powerful and relentless. I refer, of course, to the federal government.”

South says that the quotation is “patently offensive.” Ohhhhhhhh. That, by the way, is the same term Marquette uses to define hard-core porn.

Well .. to many university professors, any negative statement regarding our Imperial Federal Government is, in fact, hard-core porn; such is their love for government.

There’s your Stupidia Academia update for the day. Isn’t it nice to know that your precious kids off at college are being nurtured by a “tolerant” bunch of leftists, Socialists, Marxists, anarchists and Communists — anyone but evil Capitalists.
