Kerry: Foot-in-Mouth Disease

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006 3:57 pm by Neal

Unless you’ve been in a coma the last two days, you’ve heard about the latest flareup of John F’ing Kerry’s terminal case of Foot-in-Mouth disease. Michelle Malkin is all over this story if you’re looking for the latest news on the Poodle and the spooked MSM’s stampede to cover for Mr. Diarrhea of the Mouth.

If there was a Nobel prize for political stupidity, Kerry’s portrait would be on the trophy.

John at powerlineblog.com has this excellent analysis of how dated Kerry’s misconceptions are:

John Kerry’s gaffe yesterday was a self-inflicted wound, greatly compounded by his refusal to apologize and his bizarre attack on the Republicans, as if they had somehow made him stick his foot in his mouth. One wonders what possessed Kerry to say that soldiers are both dumb and lazy: “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” And not only to say it, but to stand by it at considerable political cost.

It seems clear that the roots of Kerry’s blunder–like so much else where Kerry is concerned–go back to Vietnam. It was an article of faith among liberals (and many others) at that time that the Army consisted largely of the poor–kids who couldn’t get into college and thereby obtain a deferment. It was also an article of faith that non-white Americans died in disproportionate numbers in Vietnam. That turned out not to be true, and I confess that I was astonished to learn, only within recent years, that there was no such ethnic disproportion in the Vietnam dead.

The stereotype of the poor, dumb soldier is firmly entrenched among liberals of the Vietnam era. We often see it repeated by younger liberals today, even though the stereotype has no application whatever to our current volunteer army, which is demonstrably equal, at least, to the civilian population in talent and accomplishment.

Why are liberals so determined to hang on to these discredited stereotypes of the past? I suspect it is because the young men and women who serve in the armed forces are a constant reproach to liberals’ facile, politically-motivated pronouncements on foreign policy. Iraq is a disaster (never mind that I voted for it)! But the young men and women who are stationed there don’t think so. They re-enlist in remarkable numbers; a large majority beieve in their mission; and they are working hard, risking their lives, and making considerable progress on many fronts. So it’s helpful for liberals to think: what do they know? They’re only soldiers–they must be dumb!

John is dead-on accurate that Kerry’s mindset is stuck in the Vietnam era. But, there’s more to it than that. The current crop of leftists that dominate the Democratic-Socialist party, from Howard Dean and John Kerry to Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton, are all completely frozen in the 60’s, Vietnam era. It explains their loathing of the military and their love of socialism and patchouli.

The poodle — a rich woman’s pet.

Also, we picked on Neal Boortz for pulling against the Republicans in the upcoming elections; however, Kerry’s moronic comment has brought Neal back to reality:

Clearly John Kerry had no idea what in the hell he was talking about .. the arrogant putz.

So .. the firestorm erupts, and here comes Kerry to the microphones to set the record straight. Did he apologize for his insult against our troops? Are you kidding? Not only did he not apologize, but he actually had the stones to try to tell us he wasn’t talking about our troops, he was talking about Bush! I would ask just how stupid Kerry thinks Americans are — but the very fact that he thinks we should have made him president indicates what his answer, were he to be truthful, would be.

These men and women are on the front lines, giving up their lives, to defend us from Islamic fascism — and Kerry is back here talking about what intellectual failures they are. Intellectual failures that terrorize women and children in the night.

Do we hang the sins of John Kerry around the necks of all Democrats? Well, let me ask you. Did you hear of one single Democrat .. just one .. anywhere .. stepping forward to repudiate what Kerry said? Maybe some Democrat did, but I sure as hell haven’t heard anything about it. Have you? A Democrat congressional candidate in Iowa has gone so far as to say Kerry’s words were “inappropriate.” Hardly an apology .. but he did ask Kerry to cancel a planned campaign visit to his district.

In other words … these gutless wonders who just love to tell us how much they truly do support our troops won’t even stand up to be heard when our soldiers are slandered by this rich woman’s boy toy.

This is such a gift to the Republicans. It’s as if Karl Rove himself paid John Kerry a large amount of money to read from a script. It couldn’t be better. Here we are, on the even of the 2006 mid-term elections…in which the Democrats are poised to take over the House and maybe the Senate. Now here comes John Kerry, standard-bearer of his party in the last presidential election…to slander our troops. Bad move….even the most anti-war politician never blames the troops. It’s political suicide.

So .. that’s it. We’re six days out, and I’ve come unglued. Sure, the Republicans have become just another party of big government and pork barrel spending … but at least they don’t slander the very men and women who are shedding blood every single day to defend our country.

Give me the big-spenders who support our troops over the big-spenders who slander them any day.

I’m voting Republican.

We’ll just have to figure out another way to take these Republicans miscreants to the woodshed.

Boortz is right that Kerry “had no idea what he was talking about” with his criticism of the men and women in the military. However, Kerry did mean it.
