Shamnesty International

The once respected organization, Amnesty International, has issued a “report” — “Israel/Lebanon: Evidence indicates deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure” — that accuses Israel of “war crimes” by defending herself against Hezbollah aggression. Go read their report, and you’ll find many of the same, tired arguments that Al Reuters and other biased, hoodwinked media organizations have already blathered. Here are some examples:

“Israel’s assertion that the attacks on the infrastructure were lawful is manifestly wrong. Many of the violations identified in our report are war crimes, including indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks. The evidence strongly suggests that the extensive destruction of power and water plants, as well as the transport infrastructure vital for food and other humanitarian relief, was deliberate and an integral part of a military strategy,” said Kate Gilmore, Executive Deputy Secretary General of Amnesty International.

Excuse me, Kate, but Israel took out bridges to prevent Hezbollah from being re-supplied with arms, not to prevent the transport of humanitarian relief. But Kate is a military expert who knows better than generals what constitutes a valid, military target. Also, notice the “disproportionate” strawman we’ve heard over-and-over again. Does Kate Gilmore subscribe to the theory that, in a military conflict, both sides must adhere to some common denominator of force? What fantasy land does she live in? In WWII, was it a “war crime” for the allied forces to use “disproportionate force” to fire-bomb Dresden since the Germans didn’t have the capability to similarly bomb London? Should the US not have used atomic bombs until we gave Japan a couple of their own? But wait, there’s more.

The Israeli government has argued that they were targeting Hizbullah positions and support facilities and that other damage done to civilian infrastructure was a result of Hizbullah using the civilian population as a “human shield”.

“The pattern, scope and scale of the attacks makes Israel’s claim that this was ‘collateral damage’, simply not credible,” said Kate Gilmore, Executive Deputy Secretary General of Amnesty International.

No, Kate, you and Shamnesty are “simply not credible.” Are you blind? Do you deny that Hezbollah was using the civilian population as a “human shield?” If not, then where is your criticism of Hezbollah? This report is absurd.

Shamnesty International also includes, as evidence against Israel, Examples of leaflets dropped by the Israeli Defense Forces. Here’s one:

Here’s the translation:

“To the people of Lebanon

Pay attention to these instructions!!

The IDF will intensify its activities and will heavily bomb the entire area from which rockets are being launched against the State of Israel.

Anyone present in these areas is endangering his life!

In addition, any pickup truck or truck traveling south of the Litani River will be suspected of transporting rockets and weapons and may be bombed.

You must know that anyone traveling in a pickup truck or truck is endangering his life.

The State of Israel”

Again, note the double-standard. Israel endangers the lives of IDF pilots in order to warn the civilian population in Southern Lebanon exactly who and what they would target, yet Shamnesty attempts to use this as evidence against Israel! How completely screwed-up is that? Hey, Kate, what do you think about Hezbollah’s deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of the civilian population of entire Israeli cities, especially since they didn’t bother to warn those targeted? Crickets, chirping.

The hypocrisy of this once-decent organization is astounding. Here’s what Neal Boortz has to say about this report.

AMNESTY ACCUSES ISRAEL

Amnesty International, the once great organization that used to stand for stopping political prosecution abroad, is accusing Israel of war crimes. This should come as no surprise, since they’ve also accused the United States of war crimes.

In particular, Amnesty says Israel deliberately bombed civilian targets in Lebanon that had nothing to do with Hezbollah. Yeah..that’s what happened. Israel, already dealing with enough criticism around the world, decided to just slaughter innocent people for fun.

The truth is that Hezbollah designed this whole conflict to result in a large number of civilian losses in Lebanon. They launched their rocket attacks on Israeli civilians from civilian areas in Lebanon. They hid their weapons in civilian homes. They parked their equipment in lots next to civilian housing. Hezbollah knew that in order for Israel to defend itself they would have to inadvertently kill Lebanese civilians.

This was the design, and Amnesty International fell in like as expected.

Here’s a question for Amnesty International, though. How’s come they never publicly denounce regimes that really engage in human rights abuses? How about the concentration camps in North Korea? Those are a serious human rights problem. China still has political prisoners…that’s not very nice. And what about Cuba…Castro still puts people in prison who don’t agree with them.

Amnesty used to care about all of that. But that was before the current America-hating, anti-Semitic, pro-Islamic appeasement bunch took over things. Now whenever Amnesty International makes news, it’s for criticizing the West. No surprise there.

And as usual, the media goes along with it.
