Dupeocrats or Dhimmicrats?

You did hear that the Democrats had an Imam deliver the opening convocation at the winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee, didn’t you? Little Green Footballs has this to say

The convocation for the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting was delivered today by Shi’ite Imam Husham Al-Husainy, of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center in Dearborn, Michigan, and it’s amazing what this spiritual leader managed to get away with saying, in front of America’s Democrat leadership: Video: Imam prays to stop ‘oppression and occupation’ at DNC meeting.

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch has an interpretation of the “statement” within the context of Islamic doctrine. Spencer has these comments

In mentioning “Abraham and Moses and Jesus and Mohammed” I expect that he sounded wonderfully generous and ecumenical to the assembled Democrats. But in fact, he was almost certainly invoking them in their capacity as Muslim prophets: it is mainstream Islam that all of these were prophets who taught Islam, and that the followers of Moses and Jesus corrupted their teachings to create Judaism and Christianity. So what seems to be a gesture of ecumenical generosity is actually a declaration of religious imperialism and the delegitimization of other religions.

It is interesting to see the Democrats standing with heads bowed piously while the Imam Husham Al-Husainy prays, in veiled terms to be sure, for their conversion to Islam, and oh yes, for the destruction of Israel (“And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation”).

Does the “D” in “DNC” stand for Dupeocrats or Dhimmicrats?

As LGF mentions, Debbie Schlussel has the scoop on Imam Al-Husainy.

Do the Democrats support HAMAS, Hezbollah, and Jaish Al-Mahdi (the Mahdi Army)? Do they think anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about killings in Iraq? Did they mourn for Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Yasser Arafat?

Well, if they don’t, then why did the Democratic National Committee pick Imam Husham Al-Husainy to deliver their invocation, in which he called for an end to “occupation”?

Readers of this site know Imam Al-Husainy, Imam of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center in Dearbornistan, well. I’ve written about him and his extremist views extensively. I also wrote about how his participation in Morgan Spurlock’s “30 Days” pan-Islamist propaganda in the Wall Street Journal. The guy is best buddies with the Neturei Karta rabbis who spoke at the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Holocaust Denial Conference in Iran.

Now that you know, are you surprised?

Neither are we.
