Activists Pharmacists, a followup

I just talked to my Dad the pharmacist about my post on Activists Pharmacists, and he added a couple of relevant points:

  1. A pharmacists is not obligated to fill any prescription.
  2. A prescription is the property of the patient.

Thanks, dad, for pointing out those relevant facts. We both agreed that the proper solution to this problem is not more laws, one way or the other, but the marketplace. If a pharmacist refuses to fill your prescription for moral reasons, simply ask for your prescription back and take your business elsewhere. If a pharmacist hi-jacks the legal property that is your prescription by refusing to give it back, sue the crap out of him for theft and damages incurred.

If I owned a pharmacy and one of my pharmacists refused to fill a prescription for moral reasons, I’d fire him in a heartbeat. To all of you activists pharmacists out there reading this, seriously, just quit the job and get another one that is more in tune with your moral sensibilities.
