Oppose the UAE Port takeover!

Have you heard about the Bush Administration’s desire to turn six, US east-cost ports over to a state-sponsored company of the United Arab Emirates? This is the same country that is a bit too friendly with the likes of al-Qaeda! Michelle Malkin is all over the story with the following reports:

Stop the Port Sellout!
Our Ports, Our Sovereignty

Here is a letter that I wrote to my US Senators from Georgia, Chambliss and Isakson. Fellow Georgians: Check back frequently as I follow what our Senators are doing to put a stop to this absurdity.

Dear Senators Chambliss and Isakson,

I am writing you as a concerned citizen of Georgia, and an active, conservative political blogger who is mystified and angered by the US government’s Committee on Foreign Investment decision to transfer control of six, east-coast US ports to a state-sponsored company in Dubai, of the United Arab Emirates.

US ports SHOULD NOT be owned or controlled by foreign governments, much less by those governments who may be complicit in the 9/11 attacks or favored by terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda. This is an unconscionable decision that will jeopardize our national security and must not be allowed to happen. Please join with Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) in taking a second look at this ill-conceived transfer of control of critical American financial and security infrastructure. I’d expect this kind of behavior from the administration of President Jimmy Carter, but not from President Bush.

I eagerly await your response to this crisis, and I will be writing in my blog (which is widely read by thousands of Georgians and others around the world) to inform my fellow Georgians what actions our Senators are taking to stop this absurdity.
