Laura Armstrong and the leftist quagmire

Thanks to powerline for posting this story by Laura Armstrong on Baby Noor. She concludes:

This rocks John Kerry’s world, because he and his cronies say our troops “terrorize Iraqi women and children” in the middle of the night. Don’t ask me why, but a majority of liberals and democrats want us to believe that, even though they claim to “support the troops”. (If they’re not characterizing our professional soldiers and Marines as evil occupiers, they’re painting them as misled victims).

And about the father and grandmother of little Baby Noor: have you noticed they must cover their faces, protecting their identities from the possibility of discovery?

This is not done for religious reasons, but out of fear. Fear that the real evil occupiers of their country and their neighborhood will see them. Fear the insurgents (lets just call them what they are – terrorists) might see them TRYING TO GET HELP FOR THEIR CHILD and kill them and their family members.

Americans historically stand up against evil. We’re bearers of hope and freedom around the world, despite what liberals say.

If Baby Noor’s touching story isn’t proof enough for them of why we should be in Iraq and of the evil we’re fighting, then I’m resigned to the fact they’re hopelessly stuck in a quagmire of their own – the inability to see that for which we fight.

How can men be so evil that they would kill someone for saving their child?

This puts freedom in perspective to me.

The left is indeed “hopelessly stuck in a quagmire of their own”, as Laura is resigned to believe; however, it’s a deeper pit of muck than “the inability to see that for which we fight.” In their little elitist minds, anything the Imperialist America does is bad. We could try to save one hundred Baby Noor’s and the left would spin it as American interference with the customs of another country, or Americans trying to embarrass Iraqi doctors.

Conversely, any act by a country or culture that is anti-West is necessarily good in the morally-inverted view of the perverted left. So, for example, when Muslim punks rape women on a train in France, there is silence from the feminists on the left. When Taliban murderers behead a school principal for daring to teach girls, there is silence from the feminists and human rights activists on the left. After all, according to the religion of multiculturalism, we must respect their “right” to rape and murder. But what happens when this hits a bit closer to home? Let’s consider a part of Mark Steyn’s sobering assessment of Europe’s demise:

What will London–or Paris, or Amsterdam–be like in the mid-’30s? If European politicians make no serious attempt this decade to wean the populace off their unsustainable 35-hour weeks, retirement at 60, etc., then to keep the present level of pensions and health benefits the EU will need to import so many workers from North Africa and the Middle East that it will be well on its way to majority Muslim by 2035. As things stand, Muslims are already the primary source of population growth in English cities. Can a society become increasingly Islamic in its demographic character without becoming increasingly Islamic in its political character?

This ought to be the left’s issue. I’m a conservative–I’m not entirely on board with the Islamist program when it comes to beheading sodomites and so on, but I agree Britney Spears dresses like a slut: I’m with Mullah Omar on that one. Why then, if your big thing is feminism or abortion or gay marriage, are you so certain that the cult of tolerance will prevail once the biggest demographic in your society is cheerfully intolerant? Who, after all, are going to be the first victims of the West’s collapsed birthrates? Even if one were to take the optimistic view that Europe will be able to resist the creeping imposition of Sharia currently engulfing Nigeria, it remains the case that the Muslim world is not notable for setting much store by “a woman’s right to choose,” in any sense.

Hey lefties, do you get it? The ability of Europe to withstand an Islamic takeover is seriously in doubt. When Sharia is the law of the land in Europe, and women there are legally raped, legally prohibited an education, legally murdered by their insane husbands, will you get it then? Has it occurred to you that Republicans and conservatives may be more supportive of women’s rights than Islamic nut jobs? When your little leftist kids become leftist college grads, and they can no more go tour around Europe (like you did) than they’d tour around North Korea, will you get it then? Do you get it when Steyn says, “There are worse things than John Ashcroft out there” hmm?

Good grief.
