Southchild in solidarity with Iraqis

As the citizens of Iraq vote for a constitutional parliament, I’m proud to put forth my purple finger in support of freedom and independence for the long-oppressed Iraqis. Join the “Purple Finger for Freedom” movement to show the world that Americans support a free and independent Iraq. Although securing a democratic stronghold in the Middle East is in the long-term interests of the United States, the liberation of 25 million people from a brutal, totalitarian dictatorship is something all Americans should be proud of. When it comes to spreading freedom, no force on earth can compete with the US armed forces, and I proudly support their mission and dedication.

Iraqi’s who watch al-Jazeera and the MSM cannot miss the parade of Democratic politicians such as Murtha, Dean and Kerry calling for the US to cut-and-run — to abandon the Iraqis like we did after the 1991 Gulf War. Supporters of President Bush, however, see things differently. We understand that leaving before the task is complete is NOT an option. To prematurely evacuate would be the act of a fool and a coward — to throw away all that has been achieved, throw away all that our brave soldiers have fought and died for, throw away the future of free Iraqis — and this child of the South was raised to finish what he starts, and I expect no less from my government than to complete the mission in Iraq. Our military is up to the task, and we need to let them finish the job. As the free citizens of Iraq once again go to the polls and risk being murdered to exercise a right that we take for granted, they demonstrate to the world their desire for freedom and self-rule. I wholeheartedly support them and their cause. Best of luck to the free citizens of Iraq and to our troops who have made freedom possible.
